Cozumel is definitely a paradise during the COLDDDD...Canadian winters. We were fortunate enough to be able to come for 4 months this winter. We had only been on Cozumel for a day a few years ago, so did not really understand the island. As we love to snorkel, swim and dive, we thought we would like to be on the ocean front. However, on short notice we booked a month at Las Ventanas until we could get the remaining months oceanfront. Well, we never moved as we realized Las Ventanas was the best!!!
We are not on the ocean but only a block from the ocean. The pool is large and a beautiful design. It is situated so that it is protected from wind, yet receives sun all day. Nice lawn furniture and impeccably clean. The public beach is a 5 to 10 min. walk. An excellent biking or walking path, safe from car traffic is a few minutes away as Las Vantanas is close to the outskirts of town but near the waterfront.
Another advantage is the proximity to central shopping and restaurants. Once again, a 10 minute will take you to most places. We found a modestly priced locals restaurant El Fish, just around the corner. Many of the top notch restaurants are also nearby. The ferry to Cozumel is easily walkable.
The condo unit and complex surpassed my expectations. As we opened the door I had the feeling of WOW! Granite countertops, modern, open concept with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. As the name in Spanish suggests, Las Vantanas units have many windows. This provides lots of air circulation and views. There is still lots of privacy due to the design of the complex.
We also appreciated the onsite management, guards especially at nite (even though we have always felt safe on Cozumel and especially in this area), and the great crew of gardeners that keep this development in top notch shape. We have seen lots of maintenance ongoing as far as painting, repair, and cleaning.
We will definitely try and secure accomodation at Las Ventanas next time we are able to come to this Island Paradise!
